ACPO Excellence in Policing (EIP) Conference 2011

Alexander consultant Mike Astbury attended ACPO’s Excellence in Policing 2011 Conference again this year.
This year’s conference ‘Choosing to be better: What are the Priorities for policing?’ took place on Monday 19th & Tuesday 20th September 2011 at the NPIA Conference Centre in Ryton-on-Dunsmore, Coventry.
Throughout a challenging year for UK Police forces, the EIP 2011 aims to assist police managers and stakeholders to interpret the developments and performance within policing and services to the community. The programme also features keynote addresses from influential figures together with a wide range of case studies, presentations and workshops on the most significant issues.

Spending Review
On October 20th the Chancellor, George Osborne, presented the Government’s Spending Review (SR), which determined the spending budgets for each Government department up to 2014-15. The SR sets out how the Coalition Government will reduce Britain’s budget deficit.
In order to help you make sense of how the cuts will affect you and your sector, Alexander has produced a quick and easily-digestible summary of the Spending Review document, which follows the structure of the original document. Our directors have then lent their sector-specific expertise and deciphered the SR and its implications for the NHS, Councils, Fire and Rescue Services and the Police Service.

Great South Run

On October 24th Alexander people Ian Smart and Grace Massey took part in the Great South Run in Portsmouth. They raised a considerable amount of money for Rose Road, a local charity that has ties to Alexander through Ian being on the board of trustees.
The Rose Road Association has been working with children, young people and their families from across Hampshire and the surrounding counties since 1952. The children who attend Rose Road have multiple and complex health needs, but we believe in valuing individuals, celebrating achievement and respecting choices of young people with disabilities.
