Alexander - Working with Fire & Rescue Services
Our understanding
For most UK fire and rescue services headline performance makes great news; fire deaths have halved since the 1980s and fire fighters play an important role in community by getting involved in a wide range of initiatives focused on the needs of young people and their communities both independently and in partnership with other local agencies.
However, headlines today are all about the severe budget cuts that have been imposed on the public sector and the effect they will have on service delivery. Chief fire officers now have to make courageous decisions on how to make the necessary cuts of 13% to fire resource expenditure without affecting the effectiveness of the service. We believe that essential fire fighting and road accident response services should not suffer because of budget cuts and we can help you redeploy and increase the efficiency of your existing resources by cutting waste.
We are working with fire and rescue services across the UK to help them find innovative ways of cutting costs without axing the services our communities value most and affecting the effectiveness of the service.

“We had a strong view of what we wanted to achieve, but we recognised that our existing approach would be unlikely to deliver. Alexander helped us build the focused performance management framework we needed. People responded well because they were working with a consultant who really understood the fire and rescue service.”
Richard Smith, Chief Fire Officer, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service
