About Alexander

Alexander is a change management consultancy that thinks and works with the public sector and provides professional services based around organisational transformation, service design and continuous improvement. We do this by translating and adapting the best private-sector approaches to meet the demands and challenges of public services.

Our guiding principle is that we let the problem define the solution. We first aim to fully understand the whole problem, not just the problem or the symptom presented. We then think and work with you to design and deliver a sustainable solution.

Alexander was incorporated as a limited company in February 2003 from a merger of two companies being run separately by the two founding directors Ian Smart and Stuart Bestwick. In January 2006 the board of directors was further strengthened by the addition of Mike Astbury. Together they recognised that under the modernisation of public services there would be a growing need for private-sector approaches to be adopted to support change.

Alexander now works nationally with many public-sector organisations undergoing transformation.
